MikroTik Certifications

Mikrotik Career structure is organized as outlined by the following picture:

First level certification MTCNA gives access to any second level certification MTCRE, MTCWE, MTCTCE, or MTCUME. To achieve MTCINE certification MTCRE is required. Follows a short course description together with links to official MikroTik courses outline.

MTCNA – MikroTik Certified Network Associate

Good for: Anybody who wants to learn about RouterOS, good starting point for anybody who wants to move first steps in routing words, anybody who wants to achieve MikroTik Certified Network Associate certification, anybody who wants to join the MikroTik community.
Main issues: login use of RouterOS and Routerboard, creation of a simple network, Ip addressing, Nat, DHCP Server and client, firewall, PPP, simple queues, wireless networks.
Required: A good knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol.

MTCRE – MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer

Good for: Anybody who wants to update his knowledge about IP networks, anybody who needs to use OSPF protocol, who wants to improve knowledge about tunnels and VLAN, everybody wants to become a MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer, who wants to access to MTCINE certification.
Main issues: static routing, recursive routing, ECMP, point to point addressing, VPN, Vlan, QinQ, OSPF – Areas, neighbors, cost, introduction to BGP and MPLS.
Required: Good knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, MTCNA

MTCWE – MikroTik Certified Wireless Engineer

Good for: Anybody who wants to use 802.11a/b/g/n networks, anybody who wants to update about WiFi standards, who wants to improve knowledge about MikroTik proprietary wireless standards, who wants to become a MikroTik Certified Wireless Engineer, anybody that wants to join the MikroTik Wireless community.
Main issues: Installations, Wireless Standard, Wireless Tools, Troubleshooting, Advanced settings, 802.11n protocol, Security, WDS e Mesh, Transparent bridge, Nstreme, Nv2
Required: Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, Basic of Radio Frequency, MTCNA

MTCTCE – MikroTik Certified Traffic Control Engineer

Good for: Small ISP, hotspot managers, Campus network administrators, Corporate networks administrators.
Main issues: DNS Client and Cache, DHCP, Advanced Firewall, Destination NAT, Source NAT, NAT Traversal, Mangle, HTB, Queue Tree, QoS, bursts, Queue Types (bFIFO, pFIFO, RED, SFQ, PCQ), Web Proxy.
Required: Good knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, MTCNA

MTCUME – MikroTik Certified User Management Engineer

Good for: Network administrators, ISP, System integrators, API developers.
Main issues: PPP profiles, PPP Secrets, PPTP e L2TP, PPPoE Server and Client, ECMP, Multilink protocol, MLPPP, IPSec, HotSpot Bypass, RADIUS, incoming
Required: Good knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol, RADIUS protocol basis, MTCNA

MTCINE – MikroTik Certified Inter Network Engineer

Good for: LIR, Network administrators, regional ISP, AS owners.
Main issues: Autonomous System, BGP, Path Vector, BGP and EBGP, private networks scenarios, Multihop IBGP + eBGP, loopback, static routes, dynamic routes, RSVP.
Required: Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, MTCNA, MTCRE
